The Spanish Basketball Federation announced initial round of cuts from their preliminary roster.
Miguel Salvo, Jonathan Barreiro, Alberto Diaz and Hector Alderte will not be moving forward as the team trimmed its roster down to 18 in front of the opening of home-and-home friendly matchups that began Tuesday , with trip to Athens, Greece.

Sergio Llull will miss the Tuesday contest with Greece due to personal reasons but will rejoin the team Wednesday.
Spain will take on Greece again Thursday; next up are two matchups with Lithuania, one in Gran Canaria next Tuesday and next Thursday in Vilnius. The final round of 2023 World Cup Qualifiers begin with a matchup with Iceland at home August 24 and hitting the road to take on Iceland August 27.
Spain is in Group A in the preliminary round of EuroBasket 2022 play where they will face Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Montenegro, and Turkey between September 1-8 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The top four teams will move on to the next round in Berlin.
